The itch

My college teammates at ASU and I are runners at heart. For years we dreamed of a world where you could make new friends through running: visit a new town and immediately have someone to run and explore with. So we built it.

What it does

How it works

One React Native codebase built with Expo, backed by Firebase. The app talks to Firebase directly for sign-in and data, and Cloud Functions react to changes, like sending a push when a friend posts a run or someone joins yours.

  1. Tomo appReact Native · Expo
  2. FirebaseAuth · Firestore · Storage
  3. Cloud Functionsnew runs, joins, friends
  4. Expo pushnotifications
  5. Your phone“New match!”
Cloud Functions also check uploaded photos and make thumbnails, so profiles load fast.

What's next

Getting more runners on it, city by city. An app like this is only as good as the people near you, so if you run, download it and say hi.
